Are you considering electrical heating? When does it pay off?

Electric boilers are known among consumers as expensive. However, there are situations when electric boilers provide the best heat comfort and that are easy on the wallet, too. In what cases are they the most convenient source of heating?

We currently offer the following electric boiler series:

1. Building Temperature Control

An electric boiler is an ideal source of heat in the protection of building against frost. Whether it is a cottage or any other seasonal building, an electric boiler with a thermostat can keep the indoor temperature above zero regardless of the frost outside. Modern electric boilers also offer the practical option of remote control. You can check and adjust temperature in the building using your mobile phone.

If you are going to spend the weekend at your cottage, for example, you can set the required temperature on Friday and you will arrive into a pleasantly heated house. It is a modern luxury, but it might be surprisingly affordable.

2. Additional Source of Heating

If you have a solid-fuel boiler with manual loading, you can use an electric boiler to increase the heat comfort at night or during the day when you are not at home. Not only is constant temperature pleasant, but the building also does not have time to cool down and does not have to heated repeatedly. In cool seasons when the primary source does not heat the building to the required temperature, it may be supplemented with the electric boiler.

The popular combination of an electric boiler and fireplace is also convenient for the same reason. Wood is the cheapest fuel but it requires frequent handling. An electric boiler does not require any attendance and it is easily programmable and so it can cover for insufficiencies of alternative heat sources – for example, solar collectors when the sun is not shining, or a heat pump whose efficiency decreases at freezing temperatures.

3. Low Initial Investment and High Efficiency

The cost of electric boilers is lower than most other heat sources and their installation also is not expensive. Thanks to the relatively simple design, this type does not require regular revisions as other sources of heating.

Unlike other types of boilers, the electric boiler does not burn or pressurize anything, unlike a heat pump, for example. It is a device that is not exposed to almost any wear, does not require regular cleaning or adjustments. The cost of service and spare parts are almost non-existent.

In spite of the simple design, electric boilers achieve a high efficiency that ranges above 99% in the modern THERM electric boilers. We need to point out the misleading energy labels that take into account the efficiency of energy production in their calculation. Even modern electric boilers are thus commonly labelled with D under the legislation, while old solid-fuel boilers with efficiency below 80% are labelled as A+.

4. Low-Energy and Passive Houses

An electric boiler is also a suitable primary source of heat for houses and flats with a low heat loss. The operation of an electric boiler is costly especially in older, not insulated houses with high energy demands. The differences in the fuel cost are rendered down thanks to today’s minimal demands on heat supply when the maximum value in passive homes is 15 kWh/m2 per year (the annual limit for low-energy homes is 80 kWh/m2). Moreover, it is possible to use the reduced tariff rate for all appliances in the household when using electricity for heating, and thus save even more. In the case of low-energy and passive houses, an indisputable advantage of the electric boiler is the option of continuous regulation along the entire range of the boiler output, which can be over-dimensioned precisely according to the needs of the building.

5. Flats and Small Spaces

Simply said, the lower the energy consumption is, the more convenient it is to purchase an electric boiler. That makes it suitable for use in insulated family homes and recreational buildings, as well as in flats. Flat residents will appreciate the small dimensions of the electric boiler, as well as its quiet operation and the possibility to install it on the wall without having to provide air supply, which makes it easy to install almost anywhere in the interior. The owners of flats will especially appreciate the fact that an electric boiler does not require any waste gas flue or a chimney path, which is usually very costly or even impossible in most flats.
